March 29th ConCom Meeting — NOI is on the Agenda

The Hopkinton Conservation Commission is meeting via Zoom on Tuesday March 29th at 7:00pm to discuss the Notice of Intent submitted by the Hopkinton DPW to address the excessive weed growth in the lake. The LMPA Executive Board has discussed this topic extensively. We voted in 2020 that the use of herbicides as a spot treatment, when needed to control excessive weed growth, is important as a “tool in the toolbox”. We encourage all the LMPA members to become involved in the process.  Here is an article from the Hopkinton Independent which provides a good background on the subject. Zoom link will be sent when it becomes available.  The LMPA Executive Board

2022 Lake Clean Up

Spring means “Lake Cleanup Time”! Grab your friends and family and join us on Sunday, March 20th for Lake Clean up. We will have trash bags, donuts, coffee and post-cleanup pizza for all volunteers!

We will have a table set up at 9am in the beach parking lot with a map of the lake. We will assign families areas to clean up so we can hopefully hit as many places around the lake as possible.

We are hoping to take advantage of the low water level to get areas around the shoreline!!

Please email us with any questions!

After another beautiful summer, fall is upon us and it’s time for the annual draw down of the lake to begin. The timing of the draw down is mandated by a permit received from the Hopkinton Conservation Commission and must begin no earlier than September 15th and no later than October 1st. While the exact date can vary from year to year based upon the level of the lake at the end of summer, it could start any time between now and October 1st.  For your information, the Hopkinton DPW is in charge of the draw down process.  This year’s draw down is expected to be 4′ and 5′ (48–52 inches).  Please be aware of the lake level draw down process and arrange for the removal of boats and docks accordingly.
