Dear LMPA Members,
It certainly is a unique time for all of us and we hope everyone is staying healthy and safe. As we move into May and get ready for summer on the lake we do so with a level of uncertainty that we have never felt before. It appears that limitations on gatherings will be easing soon but what that looks like remains unknown.
With this in mind, we wanted to share our current thinking on the upcoming summer and LMPA events on the lake:
· We have decided to continue with the LMPA Annual Meeting of the Membership on June 1 at 7:00 pm but we will be doing so virtually via Zoom. Please reach out to lmpa.org@verizon.net for log in information.
· Importantly, we have elections for the Executive Board at the Annual Meeting. We have two positions open this year. Secretary (replacing Patty Holland) and General Executive Board Member (replacing Denise Votolato). If you are interested in one of these positions, please send an email to lmpa.org@verizon.net. Candidates will have an opportunity during the Zoom call to say a few words if you’d like or if you cannot attend the Zoom call, please include a brief paragraph with your email about why you are interested and why you would be a good Executive Board member. We will be able to vote during the meeting using the Zoom application. We know of several interested individuals so we look forward to welcoming two new members to the board with fresh ideas and energy!
· Light up the Lake was a huge success last year and we have decided to hold this event again this year and move it up to Memorial Day weekend starting on Friday, May 22. Just like last year, let’s all work to light up our homes and boats with creative lighting and get out on the water at dusk to enjoy the festive atmosphere around the lake.
· The Spring Fling has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled this year.
· We are planning to hold the annual 4th of July Boat Parade so start working on your boat decorations.
· For the Annual LMPA Cornhole Tournament, we will wait and see what the guidance is for gatherings. We would like to find a way to hold the tournament but we may need to make adjustments in terms of size and/or timing. We will keep you posted.
· The status of opening Sandy Beach and the boat ramp is under review by Hopkinton Parks & Rec. We are in regular communication with Parks & Rec and will keep you posted. We look forward to seeing everyone at our very first Virtual Annual Meeting on June 1!
Thank you and stay safe,
The LMPA E Board
