Executive Board Meeting Minutes
September 10, 2014
Attending: Malcolm, Patty, Tina, Rick, Dave, Paul, Drew, Mike

1. Review, discuss changes and vote to accept minutes from August 12th Executive Board meeting. Post meeting minutes to website after board approval.
Make the following change: The native weed we have is a challenge, Draw Down will knock down the density of the plants, and it will not kill the seeds, its migrating into deeper water.

2. Treasurers report – New members…
Balance: $2,742.37
Insurance annual premium paid — $850
Tina received a few new memberships
3. Sunken Boats – Lakeshore Road, Woody Island
Mike to call police to knock on doors. Drew will go to neighbor on Lakeshore. Dave Gibbs suggested ballast bags to resurface boat on Lakeshore. No oil or gas leak as of now.
4. Request for support of a Thanksgiving Day charity 5K
We can use our connections to support it. Dave will check to make sure it is a legitimate charity.
Motion: Agree to send out promotion for 5K race once verified

5. Letter to Conservation Commission concerning the requirement to do a biological survey after last winter’s draw down.
Malcolm spoke with Con Comm on Monday, Don McAdams said they are fine with not doing survey this time.
Question was raised, why didn’t it go all the way down, gate was not opened enough
Con Comm is in support of extended draw downs, we need solutions for Spindle Island
6. Weed Control – chemical treatment, draw down…
Full notice of intent would need to be drafted
LMPA would bear full brunt of cost
Aquatic contact person – Domenic — did the survey. Should conduct another survey to use to interact with other Lake boards.
Chemicals may be required if full draw down cannot control weeds at an acceptable level.
Funding is external, Domenic to find out and let Rick know.
Minimum cost — $150,000
Dave to make a list of local lakes and create a list of questions for us to ask. Each board member to take 2 associations and contact them.
Drew to draft an email to get interest of lake association members to form a Weed Subcommittee.
7. Flood Insurance
Malcolm responded to an email regarding flood insurance. He contacted Elaine Lazarath. The maps have changed. No properties on the lake are considered in a flood zone.
8. Notice of Normal draw down being sent out
Tina sent out a message to all members today. It was drafted by Malcolm.
9. New Business
Marking rocks – Paul asked if this could be done. Malcolm explained it can be done personally, but not by the LMPA
Hike on Peppercorn Hill for the Fall. Tina will contact Eagle Scout that marked the trails to conduct a hike.
